Giving history a kick-start

Emotion and experience are at the heart of all Baume & Mercier collaborations. Now, the brand has teamed up with Indian Motorcycle, America’s first motorcycle company, founded in 1901. This partnership was launched in 2017 at the Bonneville Salt Flats, at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the land speed record set by Burt Munro in 1967 on his Indian Scout Streamliner. That year, Munro achieved an official speed of 184.087 miles per hour on a modified motorbike in the under-1,000 cc category. The feat earned him the nickname “the world’s fastest Indian”. To commemorate this record, unbeaten in its class, Burt’s great-nephew Lee Munro took to the famous salt lake in August 2017 in the saddle of a modern Indian bike decorated in the same colors as his hero Burt’s original Indian Scout. Founded on shared values, this new partnership expresses Baume & Mercier and Indian’s passion for an independent spirit, reliability and uncompromising performance.

Placing the mechanism at the heart of every adventure

Another advantage of this partnership is the desire to revive the original spirit of the sixties that made the decade a golden age in both motorcycle engineering and wrist-watches. Sharing the same philosophy as Indian Motorcycle, Baume & Mercier have launched a series of three chronographs with a unique character to pay tribute to the motorcycle company’s rich heritage. The details skillfully showcased on the Clifton Club Indian Scout and Chief timepieces as well as on the Clifton Club Indian Burt Munro Tribute draw attention to motorcyclists’ love of freedom, risk taking, adrenalin, fine mechanics and limitless living. Each of the three limited-edition models features distinctive details relating to this motorcycle maker known for the power and roar of its legendary V-twin engines. The idea behind fusing these two worlds - in which pure mechanics lies at the heart of the product - is to offer motorcycle enthusiasts a watch that perfectly complements their favorite bike.
