| A. The oldest major jewelry period is the Victorian era. This period dating from 1837 to 1901 covers the reign of Queen Victoria of England.
Major design themes of Victorian jewelry are borrowed from nature. I.e. flowers, trees and birds. Jet, coral, seed pearls and even human hair were all popular organic materials used in Victorian pieces. Morning jewelry, also called, memorial jewelry was popular during the early Victorian years, during the later years Greek and Egyptian revival themes were popular. |
